Penguins have a little fun with shirtless beach volleyball video

The Pittsburgh Penguins are on a west coast road trip which means they can finally step out of the harsh lights of the practice rink and into the dry California sun.

For some … shirtless volleyball!

If there’s one thing we learned from watching this deleted scene from “Point Break,” it’s that it’s indicative of the Penguins’ struggles this year.

Watch as the forwards stand around waiting for the puck to come skipping their way from the back end. Watch Sidney Crosby’s indifference as a ball floats past him. He’s too slow and past his prime, guys.

But hey, Patric Hornqvist can spin a ball on his finger … sort of.

Then, in the blink of an eye, we catch a glimpse of a Violent Gentlemen hat — the clothing line started by former enforcer George Parros. Get him out there to protect Sid from all the spikes and poor sand conditions, I say.

Finally, the clip is bookended by what appears to be a planted scout from the San Diego Gulls, the Ducks’ AHL affiliate. We can’t confirm if he was there to take notes on the second power play unit or because he thought it was an audition for an Old Spice commercial.
