Penguins’ Matt Murray leaves game after collision with Schenn

Matt Murray would be a bit shaken after colliding with Brayden Schenn and would have to leave the game.

Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Matt Murray has left Saturday’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers after getting hit by Flyers forward Brayden Schenn.

Schenn drove to the net late in the first period and knocked Murray’s helmet off.

The rookie goaltender spoke to the team trainer before leaving the game in favour of Jeff Zatkoff.

To make matters worse, Wayne Simmonds scored for the Flyers less than two minutes later to tie the game at 1.

Pittsburgh head coach Mike Sullivan has since decided to keep Murray out of the game for “precautionary reasons.”

The Penguins are already down regular starter Marc-Andre Fleury who’s now missed five games after suffering his second concussion of the season.

Murray, 21, had been doing well in relief, posting a 9-2-1 record with a 2.05 goals-against average and .927 save percentage in 12 games heading into Saturday.
