Penguins sign NCAA free agent Zach Aston-Reese

Elliotte Friedman and Nick Kypreos discuss whether or not Brock Boeser will suit up for the Canucks this season and where will Zach Aston-Reese end up.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed NCAA free-agent forward Zach Aston-Reese to a two-year, entry-level contract.

Aston-Reese, 22, has just completed his fourth season at Northeastern. He played in 38 games and led the NCAA with 31 goals and 63 points. He will report to Pittsburgh’s AHL affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, on an amateur tryout contract. His entry-level deal will begin next season.

Earlier in the week Sportsnet’s Elliotte Freidman reported that the Penguins weren’t the only team pursuing Aston-Reese.
