Penguins’ Trevor Daley out six weeks following knee surgery

Pittsburgh Penguins defenceman Trevor Daley has undergone successful knee surgery and will miss six weeks of action, the team announced Thursday.

Daley has five goals and 14 assists in 54 games this season. The 33-year-old was injured during the first period of Pittsburgh’s 3-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday night.

Pittsburgh made a trade with the Carolina Hurricanes for defenceman Ron Hainsey on Thursday morning.
