A Penguins win, real live penguins highlight NHL Stadium Series

Sidney Crosby scored his 34th goal of the year as the Penguins beat the Flyers in an outdoor matchup, winning 4-2.

There’s nothing quite like a game of hockey played in the open air.

The Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers met at Heinz Field on Saturday for the latest iteration of the Stadium Series. The game featured everything a fan could hope for: frigid temperatures, actual penguins taking the ice, and a mid-period switching of team sides (the wind so bad that the league decided it was only fair for each team be forced to take shots against the gusts).

The Penguins eventually beat the Flyers 4–2.

Here’s a look at the event, in photos:

The game took place in the home of the NHL’s Pittsburgh Steelers. Pittsburgh wide receive Antonio Brown was on hand to cheer on his Penguins:

Brown’s teammate, linebacker Arthur Moats, was on hand, too:

At least one fan thought Heinz Field was an ideal location for a hockey game:

Fans didn’t seem to mind the cold, either:

The Penguins may have won the game, but the real penguins stole the show:
