Police seize multiple weapons at Winter Classic

Brendan Gallagher had a goal and assist in his return to the lineup and Mike Condon made 27 saves to get the Canadiens a 5-1 win over the Bruins at the 2016 Winter Classic.

Foxborough police arrested a man in connection with several deadly weapons seized from a car at Friday’s Winter Classic at Gillette Stadium.

Matthew Bromson, a 48-year-old Connecticut man, faces several charges including trespassing, disorderly conduct and three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, according to ABC affiliate WCVB Boston.

Reports indicated law enforcement officials were informed of a suspicious man at an “off-site employee parking lot” near Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.

A search of Bromson’s car turned up weapons, including what appears to be multiple sharp edged weapons, a slingshot, meat cleaver and a taser-like device.

Police said there was no threat to Gillette Stadium.

WCVB Boston indicated that Bromson was involved in a lengthy standoff with law enforcement officials in Granby, Connecticut in 2014.

The Montreal Canadiens defeated the Boston Bruins 5-1 in the New Year’s Day outdoor contest.
