Reid Boucher is now a member of the Nashville Predators after the club claimed him off waivers from the New Jersey Devils Saturday morning.
The 23-year-old forward didn’t have far to go after being claimed, as the two clubs faced off on Saturday afternoon.
Boucher has yet to play a full season in the NHL. He skated in 39 NHL games in 2015-16, tallying eight goals and 11 assists. He has two assists in nine games so far this year.
“He’s certainly a skill set, he’s got good hands, we all know he can score,” Devils head coach John Hynes told reporters after the team waived the forward. “Last year he played in a different role for us, and he had more of an opportunity to access his skills. He’s a great kid, he works hard and he’s a pleasure to coach.”
The move to place Boucher on waivers allowed the Devils to bring Taylor Hall back from injured reserve. Hall missed eight games following arthroscopic surgery for a torn meniscus on Nov. 16.
Hall joined the Devils lineup for Thursday’s 4-3 overtime loss to the Chicago Blackhawks.
