Predators head coach Laviolette won’t announce goalie for Game 3

NHL insider Ren Lavoie joins the Jeff Blair Show to discuss Pekka Rinne’s play so far in the Stanley Cup Final, and unfortunately for a great goalie, this will be a career-defining moment for the Predators netminder.

Nashville Predators head coach Peter Laviolette is not willing to announce his starting goaltender for Saturday’s Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Laviolette spoke to media Thursday afternoon and said he’s informed the netminder in question, but wouldn’t divulge any more information.

Pekka Rinne, the team’s regular starting goalie, has been superb throughout the playoffs, before faltering in the Cup Final. He allowed four goals on 11 shots in Game 1, then four on 25 in Game 2, before being replaced by backup Juuse Saros.

Game 3 takes place Saturday night at 8 p.m. ET as the best-of-seven series shifts to Nashville. The Penguins hold a 2-0 lead.
