The “idiot” comment made by Chicago’s Adam Burish referring to Chris Pronger pales in comparison to what was written next to the Flyers defenceman’s name in the Blackhawks’ dressing room.
A photograph taken in the wake of their Game 6 Stanley Cup final victory shows the words “is gay” written next to Pronger’s name on the whiteboard.
Earlier, in an on-ice, post-game interview after Chicago beat Philadelphia 4-3 in overtime to claim the Cup, Burish, with a smile on his face, called Pronger “the biggest idiot in the league.”
Pronger initially responded to the comment by saying, “I could care less what somebody on another team says about me. I don’t play this game to make friends. I play to win.”
The playful star had more fun with the media on Friday — a common theme during Philly’s playoff run — as the Flyers cleared out their locker rooms.
Asked to respond to another Burish remark suggesting he intended to hit Pronger next season, the veteran quipped, “Where’s that, in the minors?”
Burish, who had no points in 15 playoff games, did not dress for the Blackhawks final three games of the final.
