The New York Rangers lost both Rick Nash and Matt Puempel to injuries Tuesday night in a game against the New York Islanders.

Rangers head coach Alain Vigneault told reporters after the game that Nash tweaked his groin when he left during the second period with a lower-body injury. They plan to update his status on Wednesday.

Puempel was diagnosed with a concussion after he took a cross-check to the face from New York’s Brock Nelson early in the first period. He was down on the ice for several minutes before leaving the game with an upper-body injury. Nelson was assessed a double minor.

Nash’s 11 goals and six assists in 26 games this season have him tied for fourth in team scoring.

Puempel has just one goal in 18 games.
