Rangers sign free agent forward Malte Stromwall

Lundqvist made 29 saves and the Rangers took advantage of some sloppy defensive play by Pittsburgh in a 4-2 victory on Saturday that evened their series at 1-1.

The New York Rangers have signed free agent Malte Stromwall, general manager Jeff Gorton announced Sunday morning.

His 25 goals this season ranked him second league-wide in that category, and helped AIK win the league championship. He had a plus-two rating and 26 penalty minutes.

Stromwall, 21, has also played 87 games in the Swedish Hockey League over the last three years.

The six-foot, 185-pound Swedish forward spent two seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Tri-City Americans prior to going pro in Sweden. He had 32 goals and 61 assists in 130 regular season WHL games.
