Nill, who turned down the GM job in Montreal last summer, is in his 15th season as the assistant to Ken Holland in Detroit. The 55-year-old, who has been a part of four Stanley Cup wins with the Red Wings, is in charge of Detroit’s amateur scouting, draft selections and prospect development.

The Red Wings qualified for the post-season for the 22nd straight season with a win over the Stars Saturday night.
