Detroit Red Wings’ forward Gustav Nyquist has waived his right to an in-person hearing, the NHL Department of Player Safety has announced.
He will have a phone hearing Wednesday afternoon to discuss his high-sticking penalty on Minnesota’s Jared Spurgeon Sunday.
Nyquist was offered the in-person hearing, which allows the NHL to suspend him for six or more games.
Nyquist has no history of supplemental discpline. The Red Wings next play Wednesday when they host the St. Louis Blues.
