Reimer’s wife abused on Twitter by Leaf fans

James Reimer’s wife, April, received heat from many fans over the weekend as the Maple Leafs dropped two important games in as many days.

While many of the tweets were too offensive to post on sportsnet.ca, here’s a ‘lighter’ example of what fans were harassing her with:

“@BlueLineG27, tweeted: “tell ur husband thanks for costing the leafs another game and maybe the playoffs. He’s garbage. He must be cut.”

“@MLFHROOZ tweeted to April: “you should seriously tell your husband to get psychiatric help because he has become an absolute joke.”

April responded with the following:

Reimer gave up three goals on 10 shots in less than 22 minutes of action on Sunday against the Devils.

With the loss, the Maple Leafs have lost five straight as well as Reimer — the skid ties Toronto’s longest of the season and it could not have come at a worse with nine games left in the regular season.

Teammate Tyler Bozak commented on the abuse to April: “I think this is pretty low and pretty sad.”

The Leafs’ loss on Saturday night came to their historic rival, the Montreal Canadiens.
