Report: Bryzgalov closing in on deal in ECHL

Ilya Bryzgalov was released from his tryout with the ECHL's Las Vegas Wranglers.

Ilya Bryzgalov may have found a new home.

The former Philadelphia Flyers goaltender is nearing a deal with the Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL, according to Stephen Whyno of The Canadian Press.

The Flyers used a compliance buyout on Bryzgalov just two years into the nine-year, $51 million deal he signed as a free agent in 2011.

In 40 games last season, the Russian netminder posted a 19-17-3 record with a 2.79 goals-against average and .900 save percentage.

Bryzgalov has not received significant interest from NHL teams since he hit the open market in the summer.
