More than one month ago, an undisclosed illness landed Buffalo Sabres forward Kyle Okposo in the neurosurgical intensive care unit of Buffalo General Medical Center.

On Friday, The Buffalo News cited a report from sabresprospects.com saying Okposo had an “adverse reaction to medication” given to him to help treat a concussion he had suffered.

According to a source cited by The Buffalo News, Okposo’s condition is improving and he should be healthy enough to join the team at training camp if he continues to improve at this rate.

Okposo sat out for the team’s game in Columbus on March 28 due to illness, and went on to be sidelined for Buffalo’s final six games of the season.

The Sabres kept quiet about specifics when it came to Okposo’s health, but later said the forward was undergoing several tests to determine what, exactly, was wrong.

“It’s something we’re all playing with right now,” then-head coach Dan Bylsma told reporters at the time. “It’s a difficult situation and a difficult time for Kyle and his family, and one we want to do everything we can to be with him and help him through the time that he’s in right now.”
