The Chicago Blackhawks will hire Ulf Samuelsson as an assistant coach, according to reports.
Samuelsson had been the head coach of the Carolina’s AHL affiliate in Charlotte, and has also been an assistant with the New York Rangers since retiring from a 1,080-game penalty-filled NHL career.
He figures to replace Mike Kitchen, who was relieved of his duties behind the Blackhawks bench on April 24.
Kitchen was primarily responsible for looking over Chicago’s defence and penalty kill.
