Philadelphia Flyers defenceman Yevgeni Medvedev was reportedly arrested early Wednesday in Montgomery County, Penn.
According to NBC Philadelphia and several other local outlets, Medvedev was pulled over at 2:45 a.m. ET for a traffic violation, which is when he was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence.
Lower Moreland Police Chief Pete Hasson told NBC10 Medvedev has since been released from police custody. As of Wednesday afternoon no charges had been filed as the police await toxicology results.
Hasson told philly.com the Russian national “was very cooperative.”
Flyers general manager Ron Hextall addressed the situation briefly when speaking with reporters Wednesday at the team’s training facility.
“I heard a report on it, but I don’t know any more than that,” Hextall said. “I’m certainly not going to comment on it at this point.”
Medvedev is a pending unrestricted free agent and Hextall added the Flyers are “leaning towards not” re-signing the 33-year-old.
The KHL veteran had 13 points in 45 games in his first NHL season. He was a healthy scratch in 14 of the final 15 games of the regular season and did not play in the post-season.
