Toronto fired general manager Dave Nonis and interim head coach Peter Horachek earlier this month.

Keenan, 65, has coached 1,386 career NHL games with the Philadelphia Flyers, Chicago Blackhawks, New York Rangers, St. Louis Blues, Vancouver Canucks, Boston Bruins, Florida Panthers, and Calgary Flames. He has not coached in the NHL since the 2008-09 season.

Babcock has long been linked to the Maple Leafs, but not in a general manager role. His contract with the Detroit Red Wings expires at the end of the 2014-15 season.

Ford also put on his general manager’s hat and offered advice on who the Maple Leafs need to keep on their roster.

Sill and Brewer are both scheduled to become unrestricted free agents this summer. The two were acquired — in separate deals — before the trade deadline as the Maple Leafs began unloading their veteran players in the early stages of a rebuilding effort.

It remains unclear if the Maple Leafs plan to re-sign either Sill, a fourth-line checking forward or Brewer, an aging veteran defenceman.

Ford, now a Toronto city councillor, was appointed to the Hockey Hall of Fame and Museum’s board of directors last month.
