Ron and Don: Bruins should have never let Malcolm Subban go

This week Don Cherry and Ron MacLean discuss Rock’em Sock’em 29 plus all the top stories from around the NHL including P.K. Subban playing his brother Malcolm and so much more.

Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Malcolm Subban came out on top of his sibling rivalry matchup on Friday night. The rookie stopped a career-high 41 shots — including one from older sibling P.K. Subban — in a 4-3 victory over the Nashville Predators.

It was the latest feat in a season full of impressive ones for the 23-year-old netminder.

“Malcolm was not very good when he was in the minors, but did he turn into something,” said Don Cherry during Saturday’s segment of Coach’s Corner on Hockey Night in Canada. “I’ll tell you, Boston should have never let him go.”

Subban was selected by the Bruins in the first round (24th overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft. He played in just two NHL games with the club before he was placed on waivers and claimed by the Golden Knights in October.

The Toronto native has certainly found his footing in Vegas, posting a 7-2 record with a 2.33 goals-against average and .924 save percentage while filling in for Marc-Andre Fleury.
