San Jose Sharks forward Ryane Clowe has decided to stay close to home during the ongoing NHL lockout.
According to CSN California, Clowe has signed a deal with the Sharks’ ECHL affiliate in San Francisco. He was expected to join the team for practice on Tuesday, although there is no timetable for when he will see game action.

Clowe is among a handful of players who have chosen to play in the ECHL during the lockout rather than sign a deal overseas. Columbus Blue Jackets centre Brandon Dubinsky, Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nate Thompson and former Toronto Maple Leaf Joey Crabb all signed with the Alaska Aces in September.
The 30-year-old power forward scored 17 goals and 45 points to go with 97 PIM with the Sharks last season.
