Gotta See It: The Sabres and Lightning get heated

It’s safe to say the highlight film from the third period of the Thursday’s game between the Buffalo Sabres and host Tampa Bay Lightning won’t be used for any Lady Byng Memorial Trophy considerations.

With the Lightning holding a 4-0 lead, the final frame deteriorated into a series of infractions, from slashing and roughing, to game misconducts. The first two periods: four minutes in penalties. The third: 106 penalty minutes, and six game misconducts.

On his way off the ice, Tampa’s Brian Boyle even tossed his helmet onto the ice, as sort of a tip of the cap to fans who were at the Amalie Arena watching the parade of players to the penalty box and locker room. Even Steven Stamkos picked up four penalty minutes on the same stoppage!
