The Buffalo Sabres re-signed forward Zemgus Girgensons to a two-year contract worth $3.2 million, the team announced Thursday.
Girgensons’ new salary cap hit is $1.6 million per season. The 23-year-old forward was a restricted free agent.
“Very excited to be back in Buffalo for two more years! Looking forward to the upcoming season,” Girgensons wrote in an Instagram post.
The Riga, Latvia native had seven goals and nine assists and played a career-high 75 games in 2016-17.
Girgensons was selected 14th overall by the Sabres in the 2012 NHL Draft.
