Barring some last minute major developments, top NHL draft prospect Connor McDavid will become an Edmonton Oiler on June 26th.
The Buffalo Sabres, who hold the second overall pick in the draft, have no intention of interviewing McDavid during the 2015 NHL Combine.

“We haven’t interviewed McDavid and we probably won’t,” Buffalo director of amateur scouting Greg Royce told NHL.com on Thursday.
The Sabres have their sights set on Jack Eichel, the consensus No. 2 prospect. In the highly unlikely event that the Oilers pass on McDavid and take Eichel, Royce and the Sabres are comfortable with their knowledge of McDavid’s abilities.
“We just thought maybe it was wasting his time [to schedule an interview],” Royce said. “We’d love to meet him and bring him in. But at the same time, we know him, he’s a great kid, smart kid and we have no issues with him.”

The Sabres met with Eichel on Tuesday and walked away impressed with the 18-year-old Boston University star.
“He’s an intelligent person off the ice, and the on the ice his talent speaks for itself,” said Royce.
