Seguin, Andersen and Stamkos named NHL’s three stars

NEW YORK – Dallas Stars centre Tyler Seguin, Anaheim Ducks goaltender Frederik Andersen and Tampa Bay Lightning centre Steven Stamkos are the NHL’s three stars of the week.

Seguin earned first-star honours after recording four goals and four assists in three games last week, helping the Stars claim five out of a possible six points.

He opened the week on Tuesday by recording his fifth career hat trick, including the game-winning goal, in a 4-2 victory over Columbus. Seguin had another winning goal — scoring with 2.9 seconds left in regulation — in a 3-2 win over Pittsburgh on Thursday.

He capped the week Saturday by posting a career-high four assists in a 6-5 overtime loss to Philadelphia.

Andersen was named second star after posting a 4-0-0 record last week with a 1.22 goals-against average, .955 save percentage and one shutout to help the Ducks extend their winning streak to five games.

Stamkos took the third star after leading all NHL players with five goals last week. He also had an assist and helped the Lightning to two victories in three games.
