Teemu Selanne won’t be extending his career in the KHL.

The 44-year-old reportedly received an offer this past summer to join Jokerit, his boyhood club that now plays in the Russian-based KHL, but Selanne closed the door on that possibility.

“My career is over, that much is certain,” Selanne told Finnish MTV this week. “It’s been nice to lead a life without any schedules, and there’s no place for (playing) hockey in that.”

The 10-time all-star retired from the NHL this past May after an extensive NHL career with the Winnipeg Jets, Anaheim Ducks, and Colorado Avalanche. He had spent the previous nine seasons in Anaheim and was a member of the franchise’s only Stanley Cup victory in 2006-07.

“I’ve seen a couple of Ducks games this season, but a lot more of my sons’ games,” he said.

In 1,451 career NHL games, Selanne scored 684 goals, 773 assists, with 660 penalty minutes. He is 11th on the NHL all-time list for goals, 15th in points, third in power-play goals (255) and tied for third in game-winning goals (110).
