Ottawa Senators goaltender Andrew Hammond will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a hip injury.

Senators general manager Pierre Dorion released a statement on Monday stating that Hammond will undergo surgery to address the issue.

“After undergoing tests this week it was determined that goaltender Andrew Hammond has suffered a torn labrum in his right hip. He is expected to undergo surgery in the near future to correct the injury.

This surgery will keep Andrew out for the remainder of the season and our doctors are estimating that his rehabilitation will allow him to begin skating in approximately 12 weeks.”

Hammond, 29, has been playing with Ottawa’s AHL-affiliate Binghamton Senators, last appearing in a game on Feb. 20. He logged six games at the NHL level this season.
