Ottawa Senators forward Curtis Lazar left Monday’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins with an upper-body injury and did not return.

Head coach Guy Boucher was very straightforward about the injury after the game, only confirming that it was an upper-body injury.

“Curtis is out, we have to call somebody,” he told reporters after the 8-5 loss.

The 21-year-old was hit by Penguins defenceman Brian Dumoulin as he was playing the puck alongside the boards during the second period.

The hit appeared to be from behind as Dumoulin hit Lazar right between the numbers before falling on top of him. There was no penalty on the play, and Lazar needed to be helped off the ice.

In eight games with the Senators this season Lazar has zero points, a step backwards from the 20 points he recorded in 76 games last season.
