Written off for dead a few weeks ago, the Ottawa Senators now find themselves back in the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference and back at a respectable level on the odds to win the Stanley Cup at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
On March 10 the Senators were listed at 50/1 on the Stanley Cup odds at the sportsbooks, and they were in danger of being knocked off that NHL futures board entirely. Two weeks later, however, the Senators are up to 28/1 on those betting lines thanks to a seven-game winning streak that has them sitting in eighth place in the Eastern Conference standings.
The top Canadian club on the odds to win the Stanley Cup, however, continues to be the Montreal Canadiens, who are battling for first place overall in the Eastern Conference and the Presidents’ Trophy with the Tampa Bay Lightning and the New York Rangers. The latest odds to win the Stanley Cup at the sportsbooks have the Habs tied for third at a line of 9/1.
It’s the Rangers and the Chicago Blackhawks, however, who are the co-leaders on the NHL futures right now at 13/2, with New York looking to get starting goaltender Henrik Lundqvist back within the week and Chicago continuing to roll along without injured star Patrick Kane.
The Anaheim Ducks and Minnesota Wild then join the Canadiens at 9/1 odds, with the Lightning set at 12/1 along with the Nashville Predators and the St. Louis Blues. The Ducks have a commanding lead on the Vancouver Canucks in the Pacific Division standings, while the Blues and the Predators are battling for first place in the Central Division. The Wild, meanwhile, are sitting in a wild card spot in the Western Conference.
The New York Islanders and the Los Angeles Kings are both at 14/1 on the latest Stanley Cup odds at the sportsbooks, although the Kings entered play on Tuesday night in ninth place in the Western Conference standings. The Detroit Red Wings and the Pittsburgh Penguins are both at 16/1 odds, with both of those teams slumping lately to fall out of the race for their respective division titles.
The Boston Bruins and the Washington Capitals are then each at 22/1 odds, with the Bruins trying to take back their playoff berth from the Senators. The Canucks join the Senators at 28/1 odds, with the Winnipeg Jets at 33/1, and the Calgary Flames at 40/1. The Florida Panthers and San Jose Sharks are farther down the Stanley Cup odds list at 200/1.
