Senators sign forward Alex Formenton to entry-level deal

OTTAWA — The Ottawa Senators have signed forward Alex Formenton to a three-year entry-level contract.

The 18-year-old appeared in five of the Senators’ six pre-season games and tied for fourth in team scoring with three points (one goal, two assists).

A native of Barrie, Ont., Formenton made his major junior hockey debut with the Ontario Hockey League’s London Knights in 2016-17 and led team rookies in goals (16), assists (18), points (34) and defensive rating (plus-21).

Formenton was the Senators second-round selection (47th overall) in the 2017 NHL draft.
