Hearsay: Alfredsson eyes Sochi Olympics

Daniel Alfredsson signed a one-year, $5.5 million contract with the Detroit Red Wings on July 5.

The Orange County Register reports the Anaheim Ducks are expected to hire former longtime NHL netminder Dwayne Roloson as a goaltending consultant who will largely work with their American Hockey League affiliate in Norfolk (Va.).

Roloson, 43, has been in Chicago talking with Ducks general manager Bob Murray and goalie coach Pete Peeters the last two days. Roloson and Peeters worked together in Edmonton when Peeters was the Oilers’ goalie consultant.
