Ottawa Senators goaltender Craig Anderson sustained a neck injury and was stretchered off the ice in Sunday afternoon’s shootout loss to the Dallas Stars after taking a knee to the head from Valeri Nichushkin.
Nichushkin was driving to the net in overtime and his knee rammed into Anderson’s head, bending his neck backwards. Anderson lied on the ice for several minutes as he was attended by medical staff and was then stretchered off the ice, giving a thumbs up as he exited.
Anderson was seen walking to the Senators locker room after leaving the ice.
Senators coach Paul MacLean told reporters after the game that Anderson had a stiff neck and would be evaluated by doctors.
MacLean said he expects Anderson will miss Tuesday’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
