The Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League hold his junior hockey rights and are still pursuing him but he is also has plenty of NCAA suitors for his “one-and-done” year.
“It should be resolved in a short matter of time,” Matthews’ advisor Pat Brisson recently told the The Hockey News.

Matthews, 17, is not eligible to be drafted into the NHL until 2016 because he is born after the Sept. 15 deadline. He is widely projected to be selected with the No. 1 overall pick.
Matthews helped the American team capture a goal medal at the world under-18 tournament before holding his own for Team USA at the World Championships in Czech Republic.
