The Toronto Maple Leafs are two years away from their 100th NHL season, but preparations are already underway to make 2017 a special one.

Although Toronto participated in a Winter Classic in 2014, they have yet to host one.

The Montreal Canadiens hosted their 100th anniversary in 2009 and held many big events, such as the NHL all-star game and draft. Montreal also unveiled many special items including commemorative dollar coins, an all-dedicated team on the EA Sports NHL video game and centennial jersey nights.

In their history, the Maple Leafs have won 13 Stanley Cups, the last being in 1967.
