Shanahan was said to be in Calgary on Jun. 14 to discuss a position in the front office with the Flames.
The interview was later confirmed by club president Ken King.
“I can tell you that we looked at a very long list and talked about narrowing that to fewer people. And, of course, Brendan and other people are (now) on it,” King told the Calgary Herald.
Shanahan informed Murray Edwards, co-owner of the Flames, that while he appreciated the trip to Calgary and the chance to talk, he will remain with the NHL as the league’s disciplinarian.
Shanahan appreciates the interest from #Flames, but elected to decline. Shanahan says #Flames have talked to many a number of people.
