The San Jose Sharks will not have a captain in 2014-15.

The team announced on Wednesday night that Joe Thornton, Patrick Marleau, Joe Pavelski and Marc-Edouard Vlassic will be alternate captains this season.

The move comes after the Sharks removed Thornton from his role as captain on Aug. 20, a position he served since the 2010 campaign.
