Should Brad Malone be suspended for blindside hit on Nick Foligno?

Watch as Brad Malone catches Nick Foligno with a head shot just behind the play, leaving the Blue Jackets captain very groggy after spending some time on the ice.

Early in the third period of the Blue Jackets-Hurricanes game Friday, Brad Malone clipped Columbus forward Nick Foligno with a blindside hit. Foligno went down immediately to the ice and left for the dressing room.

No penalty was assessed on the play.

Foligno has played in 38 of his club’s 41 games this season, scoring six goals and 24 points.

Malone has been a healthy scratch several times this season for the Hurricanes. He has five points in 29 games. Later in the third period, Malone fought with Blue Jackets forward Brandon Dubinsky.

No update has been provided on Foligno’s status.
