Leafs’ Leo Komarov to have hearing after elbow on Ryan McDonagh

Leo Komarov will likely get a call from Player Safety to go with his match penalty after he smoked McDonagh in the jaw with the broad side of his elbow in the first period on Thursday.

Leo Komarov will be hearing from the NHL’s department of player safety on Friday.

The Toronto Maple Leafs forward was given a match penalty for an elbow to the head of New York Rangers captain Ryan McDonagh near the end of the first period in Thursday’s game at the Air Canada Centre.

McDonagh, who remained on the Rangers’ bench until the end of the period, recently missed four games due to a concussion suffered when he was sucker punched by Wayne Simmonds. The Flyers forward was not suspended for his shot to McDonagh’s head, but will Komarov’s fate be different?
