Antoine Roussel could be hearing from the league following an incident against the Boston Bruins Tuesday night.
The play in question happened during the second period, when Roussel appears to slew-foot Zac Rinaldo — watch his left skate — causing the Bruins forward to fall backward onto the ice. His stick also came close to hitting Rinaldo’s face.
Rinaldo didn’t appear to be injured on the play. Roussel was called for tripping.
If additional disciplinary action is taken against Roussel, this would not be the first time. The 25-year-old winger was fined and suspended last season, on two separate occasions, and could be considered a repeat offender.
A sucker punch to the San Jose Sharks’ Justin Braun landed him a $5,376.34 fine last November. His most recent infraction came last February when he was suspended two games for a dangerous cross-check to the throat of Bruins defenceman Adam McQuaid.
