Sidney Crosby is finally set to make his pre-season debut.
The Pittsburgh Penguins captain was listed on the team’s game-day lineup as they prepare to take on the Detroit Red Wings Wednesday.
Crosby was expected to suit up last Saturday when the Penguins played the Columbus Blue Jackets, but he missed the game due to the death of his grandmother. The two-time scoring champion had been held out of all other pre-season action for precautionary reasons while he dealt with an unspecified minor injury unrelated to the hand injury that bothered him last season.

The 27-year-old had 36 goals, 68 assists for a league-leading 104 points in 80 games last season and won his second Hart Memorial Trophy as the NHL’s MVP.
Wednesday’s game against the Red Wings is the Penguins’ final pre-season contest before they open the regular season Oct. 9 at home versus the Anaheim Ducks.
