TORONTO — Canadians looking for their Saturday hockey fix this October need to look no further as Sportsnet will be providing coverage of select games from the American Hockey League — now in its 77th season — beginning Saturday, Oct. 13.
Sportsnet ONE hits the ice on Oct. 13 at 5 p.m. ET / 2 p.m. PT as the defending Western Conference champion Toronto Marlies (Maple Leafs’ AHL affiliate) open their season at home against the Rochester Americans (Sabres’ AHL affiliate).
HOCKEY CENTRAL host Jeff Marek will be joined by analysts Brad May and John Shannon to break it all down during pre-game and intermission analysis. Joe Bowen and Greg Millen return to their familiar places in the broadcast booth to provide play-by-play and analysis, respectively, alongside host Paul Hendrick.
On Oct. 20, Sportsnet delivers a one-two punch with a must-see doubleheader featuring the affiliates of four Canadian NHL teams. First, the Hamilton Bulldogs (Canadiens) take on the Marlies in Toronto at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT on Sportsnet ONE. Hendrick will host the showdown while Bowen and Millen provide the call, and HOCKEY CENTRAL primes fans with pre-game and intermission analysis.
In the nightcap of the doubleheader at 10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT, Sportsnet ONE heads west as the Chicago Wolves (Canucks) take on the Abbotsford Heat (Flames). Sportsnet will employ a three-man broadcast booth for this Western Conference showdown, with play-by-play announcer Rob Kerr and analyst Charlie Simmer calling the game from up top while John Garrett provides special rinkside analysis from between the benches. Roger Millions hosts from the Abbotsford Entertainment & Sports Centre, with HOCKEY CENTRAL rounding out the broadcast with pre-game and intermission analysis.
