Sportsnet has signed HOCKEY CENTRAL analysts Nick Kypreos and Doug MacLean to multi-year extensions.

Kypreos and MacLean will continue their duties on HOCKEY CENTRAL @ Noon on Sportsnet 590 The Fan on and they will make regular appearances on all platforms of Sportsnet’s hockey coverage.

“Nick and Doug are cornerstones of Sportsnet’s hockey coverage,” said Sportsnet vice president, news and information, Scott Woodgate. “As two of the nation’s top hockey analysts, they’ve seen it, done it and been there when it comes to all things NHL-related. They bring a tremendous amount of talent, expertise and personality to Sportsnet, and we are thrilled to continue our relationship with them.”

Kypreos, who played eight seasons in the NHL (1989-97) has been with Sportsnet since its inception in 1998. He has contributed to Trade Deadline coverage, Friday Night Hockey, and the MasterCard Memorial Cup.

“There’s no place I’d rather be,” Kypreos said. “I’ve been at Sportsnet since day one, and it’s like a second family to me — the people I work for and with are the best in the business. It’s an exciting time to be at Sportsnet, the sky’s the limit from here.”

MacLean spent 22 seasons in the NHL as a coach, general manager and president. He earned the Hockey News Coach of the Year award in 1995-96 with the Florida Panthers and was a finalist for the Jack Adams Award. He spent time with the Columbus Blue Jackets, Panthers, St. Louis Blues, Washington Capitals and Detroit Red Wings.

“I couldn’t be happier,” MacLean said in a release. “It’s a privilege to work at Sportsnet and to talk hockey for a living. I love being around the game of hockey and engaging with our listeners and viewers. Plus, this gives me a few more years of busting on Millard and Kypreos in front of a national audience!”
