St. Louis Blues forward Paul Stastny was forced to leave Saturday’s 6-1 win over the Arizona Coyotes after suffering what the team is calling an upper-body injury.

The 28-year-old centre was hit by Martin Hanzal along the boards early in the first period.

Stastny, who was signed as an unrestricted free agent in the summer, only logged 31 seconds of ice-time before leaving the game.

The extent of the injury is unknown at this time, but Stastny was seen with his left arm in a sling after the game. Blues head coach Ken Hitchcock told reporters that Stastny will not play Sunday when the Blues visit the Anaheim Ducks. The team will re-evaluate his status early next week.
