DALLAS — Dallas Stars right wing Valeri Nichushkin underwent surgery on Tuesday in New York and will be out three to four months.

The 19-year-old Nichushkin, Dallas’ first-round pick in the 2013 NHL draft (10th overall) has played in only four of the Stars’ first 19 games because of hip and groin injuries.

The Russian-born Nichushkin had no goals or assists and two penalty minutes. He had an assist in two games of a conditioning assignment with Texas of the AHL.

Nichushkin had 14 goals and 20 assists in 79 games for Dallas as a rookie last season.
