Spring hockey continues for Subban in Hamilton

P.K. Subban’s playoff run will continue, but it will be in the American Hockey League with the Hamilton Bulldogs.

The Montreal Canadiens sent Subban and forward Ben Maxwell to the Bulldogs, who are tied 3-3 in their Western Conference final with the Texas Stars. Game 7 is Wednesday night in Hamilton.

Subban spent most of the season with Hamilton, but was called up to the Canadiens in the first round of the playoffs after injuries depleted the Montreal defence. He became a key part of the Canadiens’ improbable run to the Eastern Conference final that ended Monday night with a 4-2 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers.

In all, the 21-year-old defenceman played 14 games with one goal and seven assists, playing nearly 20 minutes a game on average.

Maxwell, a 22-year-old centre, played one game with the Canadiens in the playoffs.
