Ryan Dixon and Rory Boylen co-host Tape to Tape, Sportsnet’s weekly NHL podcast and a one-stop shop for news, analysis, opinion, wild trade speculation and interviews covering news and entertainment around the league.
Want on-point analysis? We got it. Want trade scenarios of all kinds? We got it. Want insightful interviews with insiders, entertainers and players? We got that too. With these two putting their spin and giving their takes on the news each week, there’s no where else NHL fans need to go.
Well, that was crazy. Wednesday marked one of the wildest days in NHL transaction history – and it all happened within an hour. The Oilers shocked everyone by trading Taylor Hall to New Jersey for Adam Larsson, and as big of a deal as that was, the Canadiens upped the ante minutes later when news broke P.K. Subban was sent to Nashville for Shea Weber. Then, as the dust was settling, the Tampa Bay Lightning announced they had re-signed Steven Stamkos, who would have been the biggest free agent of the salary cap era, to an eight-year extension.
With so many huge stories, Ryan and Rory re-convened for another podcast to react to the flurry of moves. Why did the Canadiens trade Subban? Is that really all Edmonton could get for Hall? And how much do the Leafs lose by not getting Stamkos?
After talking about the big news, Sam Cosentino joins the show to talk about the NHL Draft, his takeaways, and how many of the Canadian tea picks will be in the NHL next season.
