Thomas Chabot will make his season debut for the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night when they face the Vancouver Canucks.
The Senators defenceman didn’t make the team’s opening-night roster, but a pair of injuries forced his recall from AHL Belleville on Sunday.
Chabot had one goal and one assist in two games for Belleville.
Ottawa’s blue line has been hit hard by injuries early on this season with Johnny Oduya going down in the Sens’ season opener against Washington. Ben Harpur was recalled to fill Oduya’s void, but injured his shoulder on Saturday against Detroit, prompting Chabot’s promotion.
The 20-year-old Chabot is an exciting prospect for Ottawa, which drafted him 18th overall in the 2015 NHL Draft.
Chabot made the Senators’ opening day roster in 2016 and played one game before being sent back to the Saint John Sea Dogs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
The Sea Dogs excelled with Chabot on their roster as they won the QMJHL’s President Cup and advanced to the Memorial Cup.
