Washington Capitals goaltender Tomas Vokoun says he wants to stay in the National Hockey League despite receiving interest from KHL clubs.

Vokun’s agent, Allan Walsh confirmed his client’s wishes on Twitter Friday.

The 35-year-old native of the Czech Republic was 25-17-2 last season with a 2.51 goals-against-average, a .916 save percentage and four shutouts in 48 games with the Capitals.

Vokoun’s current salary cap hit $1.5 million but is expected to get a raise if he tests free agency. He is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
