Gunnarsson, who sat out with a sore hip, has not played since Jan. 31. He will sit up for the Leafs on Monday night and will play alongside Mike Kostka.
The Leafs’ defenceman met with a ART (Active Release Techniques) specialist last week to rehabilitate the injury.
“He’s had it done before and it seemed to help,” Leafs coach Randy Carlyle told reporters last week. “We’ll have to see how it works out.”
In seven games with the Leafs this season, the Swedish blue-liner has one goal and two assists with a plus-2 rating.
The Leafs now have eight defenceman on their active roster.
