James van Riemsdyk expects to make his Toronto Maple Leafs debut on Saturday night.

The Leafs forward injured his foot during Tuesday’s practice but he still plans to suit up against Montreal at the Bell Centre.

Van Riesmdyk suffered a bruised foot after being hit with a Mike Komisarek slap shot and head coach Randy Carlyle hopes he can skate on Thursday.

The Leafs acquired van Riemsdyk in the summer in a deal with the Philadelphia Flyers for defenceman Luke Schenn.

In 43 games last season, the American forward scored 11 goals with 13 assists and a minus-1 rating.

In other Leafs news, the team placed forwards Keith Aucoin, Ryan Hamilton, Greg Scott and recently-acquired defenceman Mike Mottau on waivers.
